Urban Dems have abandoned rest of state
Over the past 25 or more years, the Democratic Party has become an urban party with strong control over statewide politics. We are outnumbered and given little chance to stop the steady increases in taxes and fees being pushed by urban dwellers. Soda tax, $500 car tabs, a recent law that could cost you up to $10,000 if a gun is stolen from you and used in a crime, just to name a few of the urban laws that liberals love. With their control of the Legislature, they try and spread the costs of their urban programs to all of us. Urban liberals have pushed the rural Democrats out from under the tent as they advance strictly urban interests.
Our governor is now pushing a carbon tax to again raise our gas prices and not spend the money on much-needed road improvements. He has strong support from the urban dwellers and we may end up with higher fees with no benefits except a negative impact on our rural economy.
Sen. Sheldon has consistently represented our needs and done more to keep the urban liberals from passing even more taxes and fees than we already have to pay. He has taken huge risks by “bucking the system” in order to best represent our needs. He obviously realized years ago that the urban liberals in charge of the party do not care about rural areas like ours. Thanks, Tim, for representing us more than the Seattle liberals.
