Climate change solutions cannot wait

Some politicians say that climate change might be real and mankind’s doing, but while combating it would be nice, it will cost too much and cause too much disruption.

But the United Nations has just come out with a landmark report that paints a far more dire picture of the immediate consequences of climate change than previously thought and maintains that only immediate and severe change to the world’s economy can avoid the outcome. According to the report, we have just 20 years before the eventual lethal heat waves, severe water shortages, frequent coastal flooding, and food limits will become everyday occurrences.

This will affect not only our grandchildren, our children, but us as well. We don’t have the option of doing something or doing nothing. We have to act now and put an end to the use of fossil fuels. We have to act locally, nationally and internationally to avoid that fate that will overcome us. It will take great political will to do this.

Do we have the will?
