Trump is not above the law

Every day our ruthless and lawless President sits in the Oval Office with pen in hand and reverses laws and regulations at will and without justification in all avenues of American life, including most recently military life.

This is the way he has carried on all his life, avoiding military service due to alleged “bone spurs,” and in spite of millions of dollars given to him by his father, he has been unsuccessful in his adult business endeavors. He has continued to make deals, then break deals, sign contracts and break contracts, engage workers on his hotel constructions then refuse to pay the workers, make promises to the American people and reverse them the next day.

Many who have supported him and been caught up in his schemes and deceit now pay the price for their loyalty to him with prison sentences. He has no loyalty except to himself and no respect for anyone.

He is like the child who goes in the nursery and knocks down the Legos built by other children. After he is gone, all the world will spend time trying to pick up those blocks to put the world back together.

Praise for Port election participation

The Port Commissioner race just completed drew more contributions, $102,000, than any other race in Thurston County. This is a testament to both sides, for the desire to win, and the involvement of citizens in their port. Also, the number of votes cast for this race, 72,599, was greater than any other Port race in at least the last 10 years, according to Thurston County Auditor election records.

I want to thank the public for turning out to vote, and for supporting the candidate of your choice. This was a study in democracy, as evidenced by the outreach to each citizen, in hopes of garnering votes.

Credit also goes to the many improvements by the Thurston County Auditor’s elections office, including having ballots be postage paid, making it easier to vote.
