Letters to the editor for Dec. 11
Showing respect
My dear child, pay attention to this worthy advice: Always show respect for others. Do not cause them embarrassment. Do not call them names. Do not post personal complaints on multimedia.
In other words, treat others as you, yourself, would be treated. I feel confident in saying this. Even though you are the President.
Open a newspaper and think
It seems as if terms such as objectivity, compromise and critical evaluation are fading away. So many of us have boxed up our ideas and consistently reinforce stereotypical thought by restricting our minds and closing our eyes to creative thought and human diversity.
For decades people would open the morning newspaper to articles and ideas that both challenged and diversified our thinking on a given issue. The newspaper provided perspectives that few would otherwise explore. Now, we “tune” into ideas that reinforce our comfort zone and restrict objectivity. We seem to be afraid to challenge our thinking and open our minds. As a result; compromise and creative solutions are becoming lost arts.
Maybe our political “leaders” need to stop relying on “party line thought” and begin to open their minds, listen to others and cooperatively work for solutions that benefit the people, not themselves.
Is there a doctor in the House?
I have watched the impeachment testimony and all the Republicans seem to be unaware their backbones are disappearing.
The side effects have also impacted their hearing, listening, and reasoning skills. Intelligence, too, is fading fast. They do more yelling and screaming. But thank god they have an excellent health care plan.
I’m no doctor but these aliments are curable. Just have President Hillary do them a favor, though, and write a prescription. The House Republicans would experience a Christmas miracle.
I don’t know why animal control doesn’t catch all those pesky squirrels the Republicans see running around the House. It’s very distracting during testimony.
I wonder what symptoms the Senate Republicans will come down with during the trial phase of the impeachment. Senator Graham is already showing signs of double vision and tongue. He thinks cheating on your wife and lying about it is impeachable but selling the country out for your personal benefit is not.
It must be reassuring to President Trump that the Senate Republicans have already found him innocent of all charges before the trial begins. Now that’s blind justice. The verdict is in before the evidence is even presented before the world’s “most deliberative body.”
The House and Senate Republicans have no appetite to eat one of their own no matter how disgustingly bad it tastes. Come on Senate Republicans, spit it out. Mama Nancy said you don’t have to choke this one down. Just desserts will come later.
