Upside down and inside out
Can our social-political pendulum swing back after our country is turned upside down, inside out? In our topsy-turvy nation, will we see populists demanding Meals on Wheels for billionaires? (You know the program Trump says we can’t afford for older hungry people?) Do dictators now count as America’s best friends while old allies wither beneath a torrent of tweets? Does Karma also work on a quid pro quo basis?
Pence and Evangelicals must ask, “What would Jesus do? Would he vote for impeachment?” Or would he somehow need even more proof of the GOP’s daily corruption in the DC swamp?
Did the devil send Trump’s “populist” party to destroy the USA? Is clever Lucifer now disguised as a Russian Oligarch named Putin? Do Rudy Giuliani and Rep. Devin Nunes wear their orange skin in the Ukraine?
I’m asking these questions for a friend.
Leaking pipe forces closure — but doesn’t require a new building
We had a leaky pipe at our house a few years ago. The thing is, we didn’t tear down our house and build a new one. We fixed the pipe.
Sure we would have liked to do a remodel and update some of the weird structural oddities we have in our house, but we didn’t have enough money. Of course, we didn’t have a revenue stream that we could arbitrarily tax to build a new house.
I hope Thurston County winds up fixing the leaks and saving us all a little bit of money.
