Letters to the editor for Dec. 19
Tis the season of giving
It is the season of shopping, celebrating and enjoying memories with family and friends. Yes, presents need to be bought, wrapped and given to the people on your list. But did you know that there are two very special gifts that do not need a credit card or a bow?
Being an organ donor or giving blood can save people’s lives. This is a very busy time of year, but the need for blood is always there. Also making sure that family and friends have checked organ donation on their driver’s license lets people know how others can help.
Besides these two options, there is also the possibility of being a living donor of a kidney or liver. My daughter will be needing a kidney in 2020, so as a mother, the holidays have taken on a different meaning: spreading the word about being a blood donor, a kidney donor and educating the public about how to consider the most precious gift of all — life!
Enjoy the holidays.
Lobby for impeachment
Does anyone need more information about the corruption of Donald Trump? We heard from Jamie Raskin, congressman from Maryland, on Thursday that Trump has been ordered by the courts to pay over $2 million in restitution to those who donated to the Trump Foundation because he illegally used those funds for campaigning and his personal whims.
And what about his fake university? He was forced to settle abuse claims by paying restitution to his victims. All of this behavior occurred even before he was elected.
And now we learn he attempted to extort a foreign country to interfere in the 2020 election and to obstruct Congress in its Constitutional obligations to investigate. Seventeen uncontradicted witnesses; no viable defense. He failed in his attempt to strong-arm the Ukrainian President only because he got caught. And right after news broke about his extortion attempt, he publicly asked China to do the same thing.
This is what is known as a “pattern of behavior.” There’s no stopping it, short of removing him from office. And even then it won’t stop; it will just end his ability to inflict his evilness upon our country.
Please write more letters to the editor and write or call your Senator, who will be one of the jurors in the Senate impeachment trial and insist they vote in favor of impeachment.
