Letters to the editor for Dec. 25
ICE enforcement must continue
Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson continues to challenge the will of the voters by failing to enforce federal laws by not cooperating with ICE to eject aliens. Federal law supersedes state law which also means no sanctuary cities.
As the country becomes more permissive, it becomes more barbaric. Olympia and the outskirts are filled with tents, trash, waste and needles. Felonies are now minor offenses and when the culprit is caught, they are released into society to re-offend.
Elected officials, by their actions, demonstrate that they are more elite and wiser than the voters. Voters voted to reduce the cost of car tabs yet Gov. Inslee and company are challenging the car tab vote. Without laws, there can be no country.
Here they go again
Liberals continue to tell us that they support the Constitution, that we are a country of laws and that they honor the will of the people. Let’s look at these individually.
First, that they support the Constitution. Liberals continue to attack the First Amendment with politically correct speech. The Constitution doesn’t make that distinction. Hate speech was used to begin the Revolutionary War.
They continue to attack the Constitutional protection of the Second Amendment. More recently they are trying to impeach a President who was elected in accordance with the Constitution. It is clear they do not respect or support the US Constitution.
Liberals also continue to defend illegal aliens. So much for a country of Laws. If you don’t like the law, you work to change it, not just blatantly ignore the law.
Finally, they say they respect the will of the people. You don’t have to look far to see that is a lie. In our state, voters have voted three times to lower vehicle license fees. The most recent passage of that vote is under attack by Washington state liberals. What an insult to voters who believe their votes count in this state. So much for the will of the people. These lies of liberals need to be exposed.
A civics lesson
The House just passed two articles for impeachment. The line is drawn between the Constitution, oath of office, and impeachable conduct. A modern-day televised lesson in civics continues.
President Trump pushed constitutional limits with a “make me stop” attitude. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had enough and said, “hold my beer.”
The oath of office needs updating. Something like this: Do you solemnly swear to use any and all means necessary to get reelected? That’s an oath politicians take to heart.
Republicans won’t vote for impeachment because gerrymandering puts party before country. Trump will anoint another Republican to run against them. Ditto 31 House Democrats Trump carried in the presidential election might also be out of a job.
Power and money drive the reelection train. We need term limits for Congress and gerrymandering neutralized. Two terms max then go home.
Sometimes Trump speaks the truth; nothing but a witch hunt, hoax and a sham. The Senate trial run by Moscow Mitch McConnell will be all this. Is truth to power DOA in the Senate? Let’s make America great again by having a fact-finding trial and the whole shebang on TV.
Nixon said he wasn’t a crook, turns out he was. Clinton said he didn’t have sex with that woman, turns out he did. Trump said he didn’t abuse power or obstruct justice, turns out -- “spoiler alert” -- he did.
This whole Trump charade is “perfectly” stupid but pay attention civic classmates. There will be a test later.
