Antibiotic use not just human
You published a nice opinion article on Dec. 26 about “killer superbugs.” Complicating this picture is the fact that the lion’s share of antibiotic use in the United States is not in humans or even in sick animals but in “food animals.” This routine feeding of antibiotics enhances growth. It also contributes very significantly to antibiotic resistance.
While we are encouraging development of new antibiotics, it would be prudent to slow the development of resistance by amending or eliminating the use of “sub therapeutic antibiotics.” Or else we will shorten the usefulness of any new agent.
Why I will not vote for Trump
There are many reasons why I will not vote for President Trump, but one stands out among the rest: climate change. Trump believes climate change is a hoax and, as a result, he has pulled the U.S. out of the 2015 Paris Agreement.
It is difficult to understand how anybody can believe climate change is not real when more than 95% of the world’s scientists agree that if we don’t solve this problem soon, we are heading for disaster. The U.S. should be the world leader in fighting climate change and set an example for other countries to follow. We should not be the only country to pull out of the Paris Agreement.
What a disgrace. If we don’t solve the problem of climate change, nothing else will matter.
Package thefts aided by delivery workers
I cannot tell you how disappointing it was for my family to prepare to leave our house and while packing out of the garage we noticed a package on the porch.
It is so apparent to me that USPS, UPS, FedEx and any other delivery service is complicit in the theft of the parcels. If the resident does not wish for their door bell to be rung when a package arrives, they should have a notice indicating such. Otherwise, delivery workers should ring the bell.
