COVID-19 case details in Thurston County

I believe the Thurston County policy of not reporting details about those contracting the disease is misguided.

Many details can be made public without violating patient privacy such as: Was the patient asymptomatic before testing? Where was the general area the person lived or worked? Had the person recently traveled to an impacted area?

These and many other pertinent details would be most useful to the public.

Show support for health care providers

Let’s applaud the health workers, first responders, and all those who support the first line of defense in the current health crisis by ringing bells, musical instruments or clanging on pots at noon for one minute. Let’s start a movement and show appreciation for the health care workers. Stand outside your front door and ring at noon for one minute with all your neighbors.

Please pass this along to everyone. Let’s get all of Olympia ringing together at noon every day for one minute.

This is a small act but one that shows we can stand as one community, supporting one another in these difficult times and particularly sending the ringing of gratitude for our health provider community.

The Rev. Eido Frances Carney, Olympia

A reply to the Democrats

Can we maybe dispense with the hate speech directed at President Trump and his administration during this coronavirus crisis? I see a lot of this in letters to the editor. A lot of hateful people out there.

President Trump took unprecedented early action to restrict travel from China. Biden was first to criticize him for this, called Trump xenophobic and racist. Now we see Trump’s action was the right one.

Trump has been criticized for calling the virus the China virus. Guess what, that’s where it came from! It is not unusual to call a virus/disease by the country or region associated with it, i.e. German measles, Hong Kong flu, Spanish flu , etc.

When President Trump was taking bold action to combat the virus, what were the Democrats doing? Oh yeah, conducting a hoax impeachment. ... The proof for the Democrats motivation is out there for all to see. They have been talking impeachment since Trump was first elected. How pathetic!

What is scary to me is a President Biden. He would be totally befuddled in a crisis. He can’t connect two thoughts without getting lost in the middle. The other Democrat is a socialist. Is this the best the Democrats can come up with? But then again you gave us Obama who had nothing good to say about America. He just wanted to totally transform it. I think I’ll take President Trump and his support for America.
