Get behind Biden now
OK, Bernie has dropped out. I know that breaks the hearts of his supporters. But please don’t do a “take your baseball, and go home” as many of you did in 2016. And please don’t go all third party. How’d that work out for you? Many of us warned you that it could result in the election of a man who would try to reverse (and often successfully has) every liberal and populist gain made, while appointing Supreme Court and other federal judges who will move legal interpretation to the right for a generation.
So, pull in your figurative belt a notch, and support the presumptive Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. He’s a good, accomplished, and experienced candidate. With your support, we can make Trump a one-termer.
The Trump Show
Our nation has been bombarded with conflicting information on the best ways to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. What is not conflicting information is that our current administration, led by an intellectually and morally challenged president, has been a major source of perpetuating “alternative facts” or “fake news.” (As are Trump’s cronies at FOX News, Sean Hannity in particular.)
Trump’s daily news conferences have been anything but reassuring. Berating reporters for asking questions he doesn’t like makes me cringe. Rambling on about his “ratings” and “brilliance” is nauseating. Refusing to talk with people who don’t stroke his ego enough, including our own Gov. Jay Inslee, who he called “a snake,” is deplorable. Trump stating that he is “not responsible” for anything that has gone wrong shows his arrogance.
But it is Trump’s total lack of competence in coordinating a national response to this crisis that causes me to lose sleep at night. When the dust settles, I can only hope we can assess how our nation can better coordinate a national plan in a crisis. And in November, voting out the most dangerous president in modern history is the crucial first step!
Back to the past
I believe it’s time to go back to the past.
I remember when hospitals and medical offices had washable sheets and pillow cases, and doctors and nurses wore washable gowns, hats and masks. They did the laundry at the hospital and clinic or paid someone to wash and sanitize the items and bring them back to be used again, just like at your home. Now the “throw-away generation” pollute the earth with PPE disposable items. Tons of disposable garbage. Now we depend on other countries to supply us, if they can.
Think about it: A hospital or clinic would need only two months’ supply of washable PPE to be cleaned and sanitized over and over.
I’m still thinking about ventilators. Where’s the Hoover door to door salesman?
