Beth Doglio for Congress
Beth Doglio is the clear choice for U.S. Congress from the 10th District. The COVID pandemic and devastating wildfires due to climate change demand action. Beth is fully behind Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.
COVID shows how the status quo just does not work for people. We can’t afford to have our health care tied to employment and lose it just when it is needed most. Our next member of Congress must fight for working people and Medicare for All if we ever hope to recover from COVID.
Climate change is real, it’s getting worse, and we must deal with it. Beth is a climate champion who is endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters because she has been working for three decades to reduce climate change, expand clean energy, and require environmental justice.
As a progressive voice in the state Legislature, Beth led on the environment, housing, gun safety, and issues facing working families. Her platform for this race shows that she will bring her organizing roots with her to Congress and champion progressive priorities. Beth is endorsed by nurses, firefighters, and grocery store workers because she has a pro-labor record, having led efforts to provide paid family leave, guarantee pay equity, and raise the minimum wage.

Be a voter
2020 marks 100 years since the ratification of the 19th amendment that gave most but not all women the right to vote. It is also the centennial of the League of Women Voters. While the league is a nonpartisan organization, not supporting or opposing any political party, it does encourage informed and active participation in government and promotes public policy issues.
More than 56 percent of registered voters in Thurston County cast their ballots in the Aug. 4 primary which decided the candidates that will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot. On Oct. 8, ballots will be mailed to all registered voters. Voters’ pamphlets will be mailed on Oct. 2 to help voters make informed decisions.
In addition, the League, in collaboration with Thurston Community Media (TCM), will be sponsoring a series of debates for candidates seeking statewide and local offices such as Thurston County Commissioner. These debates will be recorded and will be available for viewing later this month and throughout the time leading up to the Nov. 3 election. Go to LWV Thurston County website for a complete schedule.
Be a voter. Be an informed voter. Encourage others, especially new voters, to take part in our democratic system. Winning the right to vote was a long, difficult process. In 2020, it is now more important than ever to make sure we use that right.

Dump Trump
After Donald Trump won the 2016 election, I wrote my first Letter to the Editor. I predicted that our country would not do well under the leadership of this morally corrupt man, particularly because he spouts conspiracy theories and lies so often he’s like the little boy in the fable “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” I predicted that if we ever had a crisis, we could not rely on the information that would come out of his mouth, and his White House.
And Trump’s biggest whopper? The lie that the COVID-19 pandemic was a Democratic hoax, and it would just go away. In his own words recorded by Bob Woodward and printed for all to see was that he knew early on that the pandemic would be “bad,” but he downplayed it because he didn’t want to “cause panic.” He has blood on his hands for the many people who died because of this and his politicizing of wearing masks.
Anyone donning Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hat should exchange it for a “Dump Trump” one now.
