3rd Congressional District voters can make history

WA-3 voters have a chance to make history by rejecting political polarization and monetary influences in politics.

I am an independent candidate for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District running on the fundamental ideas of moving away from political polarization, removing the monetary influences in politics, and serving the people of Southwest Washington.

Out of the last 15,000 congressional elections, only 15 have been won by independents or third-party candidates. WA-3 voters can choose to reject the two-party system, which has dominated our nation’s politics, but has not looked out for the best interest of the people. Voting to send an independent to Congress demonstrates we want a government that works for the people and not for political parties.

Over $6 million have been raised by candidates in this election. However, I have not asked for or accepted campaign donations. Money has been used to influence candidates and legislation, oftentimes against the best interests of the people. WA-3 voters can send a message on election day by rejecting monetary influences in politics.

We can make history in WA-3 on Aug. 2. Vote Independent. Vote Chris Byrd for Congress.

Chris Byrd, Toutle, independent candidate for 3rd Congressional District

Please vote for Beth Doglio

Beth Doglio? Name sound familiar? It should. You probably know her from all the places you care about; from all the issues you care about. For me, those are climate action and housing/homelessness. For you it might be schools and health care.

Beth served us here in the 22nd Legislative District for four years before making a courageous bid for Congress. Now she’s back. Ready, willing, and able to serve us again as our state legislator.

If you want a brilliant, compassionate, and hard-working person representing you in the state House of Representatives, choose Beth Doglio. Your ballot has arrived in the mail. Vote for Beth Doglio. Thank you!

Vote for Julie Anderson

Julie Anderson is the best candidate for Washington’s Secretary of State. As my Tacoma City Council colleague, she was diligent, serious, studied the issues well, and an independent decision maker.

She has done an outstanding job as Pierce County Auditor, especially running honest, non-partisan, and transparent elections.

She is the best candidate. The Democrat has no election experience at all. Polls and fundraising show Anderson is definitely in the running: you will not be wasting your vote for her.

Tom Stenger, Tacoma

A dictator for America

I am absolutely against dictatorship. With one exception: If I were the dictator.

History from Genghis Kahn to Vladimir Putin has made clear that giving absolute power to a single person leads to abuse and oppression. My only promise is this: I will not raid the Treasury and send billions to an off-shore account in the Seychelles.

But, as dictator, I will absolutely ensure that:

• Everyone has enough income to ensure adequate food, housing and means for daily living. The average CEO pay is $13.9 million. Too much. 40% of the US population is poor or low income. Unacceptable. I would change it through graduated taxation on individuals and corporations.

• There is absolutely no wage discrimination between women and men.

• There is adequate health care for every woman, man and child. Not dependent on a person’s wealth. Complete care for women needing abortions.

• There is a ban on assault rifles, including the AR-15, and a law demanding secure storage of firearms in the home. Universal background checks too.

• All people have access to sporting events in their area. You would not need to be wealthy to witness a pro, regional or local sporting event or purchase a special account to witness all the Mariners’ games.

Go ahead, yell “unAmerican,” “socialist,” “dictator.” If you prefer poverty, homelessness, school massacres, high hospital bills and more privileges for white males, sorry. Deal with it. This is a dictatorship. I am in charge here.
