No party’s candidates for president deserving

Between the fairy tales of the left and the cowardice of the right, I find no presidential candidate worthy of my support. I want someone politically courageous and ethically honest; someone more honest, with more guts, and with more respect for the rule of law than the current White House occupant.

Democrats use clichés and lies to defend their policies. Serious social problems are given simplistic chants; complex political issues are solved with boycotts. Question their motives and they answer with anger; discredit their facts and they respond with name calling and finger pointing; call out their inconsistencies and they become hostile; challenge their integrity and they resort to jingoism. Witness the sanctuary city debacle in California right now.

Democrats should publicly condemn cowards who hide their faces while destroying public and private property during political protests. Democrats should publicly condemn their presidential candidate for her Nixon-like behavior in hiding her State Department e-mails.

Republicans use platitudes and empty promises as their policy statements. They offer no concrete and specific solutions to the myriad of problems for fear of offending someone. They should openly discuss how they would develop stronger border security; improve national defense; challenge sanctuary cities (hello Seattle and Spokane); and reduce the size and influence of the federal government.

Until Republican candidates find the political courage to discuss issues honestly, I will not support the national party or national candidates.
