Jessica Bateman’s mind, values needed on council

We are proud to vote for Jessica Bateman for Olympia City Council position 2. We’ve enjoyed getting to know her over the past few months and feel confident that she will do an exceptional job of representing voters who care about maximizing the enormous potential of our city, with special attention in the near-term to the earnest revitalization of our downtown.

Colleagues on the Olympia Planning Commission report that while she is a well-prepared and affable team player, she also has a keen, independent mind. Those traits will make her an especially valuable addition to the City Council.

Stimulating and developing more local businesses are two of Jessica’s highest council priorities. She understands that maintaining and growing our great park system, having safe neighborhoods, and offering support and hope to the most vulnerable people in our community all require a robust, growing economy.

She likewise has great appreciation and respect for union organizations. She was raised in the spirit of public service and is a dedicated advocate for our community. To date, Jessica has earned the endorsement of the WFSE Local 443 (state employees), the Thurston-Lewis-Mason Central Labor Council, the Olympia Firefighters, UFCW 367, AFSCME Council 2 and Local 618, and SEIU 1199NW.

Jessica Bateman is a joy to know, and we share her excitement and positive vision for Olympia’s citizens and for its thriving future.
