Bateman is a rising star and belongs on council
As the current and past chairs of the Olympia Planning Commission, we have the pleasure of working with our colleague, Jessica Bateman, who is running for position 2 on the City Council. Jessica represents the future. She brings mature judgment, solid experience, and cheerful enthusiasm to her work on the commission. She understands the unique challenges facing her generation and is committed to developing responses at the local level.
She recognizes the need to diversify our economy and to work with, rather than against, those willing to invest in our community. She listens to all points of view and will place the city’s interests above petty politics. And she will help Olympia realize its full potential as a capital city – one that provides opportunity, while protecting our cherished environment and quality of life.
Her master’s degree in public administration, service as a board member of GRuB, and position as legislative aide for Rep. Chris Reykdal – in addition to her service on the Planning Commission – reflect her strong policy background and commitment to public service. She is a rising star.
We enthusiastically support Jessica Bateman for Olympia City Council. (The views expressed in this letter are solely those of the authors and not intended to represent those of the OPC or City of Olympia.)
