If lawmakers paid own way, sessions would be shorter
Three special sessions? Imagine this at the beginning of the first special session: The governor rises and walks quietly to the podium to address the legislators. He greets them and softly begins his speech by indicating there has been a minor change in procedure for this special session.
He looks across the crowd smiling and says, “Since you can not agree on anything and continue to argue and find no reason to work together to find compromise and solutions to our common issues it has been decided by the people who you represent and promised to do a fair and fast job that you get to pay your own way during this special legislative session.”
There is total silence. Facial expressions define the real meaning of shock and awe.
As the governor leaves the chamber he sees heads down on their desks and he hears gentle sobbing in the distance. Think about it!
