Trump continues unsavory legacy of bullying

“Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?

No, this was not spoken at an English garden party; it was in fact, the clarion call uttered by defense counsel Joseph N. Welch, that eventually brought to an end over three years of witch hunting, bullying, and raves and ranting’s, by the junior senator from Wisconsin, Joseph McCarthy. The McCarthy Years, as they became known, were one of the more embarrassing, and certainly low points in the U.S. Senate.

Fast forward 60 years, and there is a new bully in the room. His blowhard and near bellicose comments have shoved him to the forefront of, yes, the republican nomination for president. Yes, president!

We are often reminded that bullies often express their insecurities by saying and doing the unthinkable. And they persist until the courageous finally rise to put a cork in their tuba, bringing quiet and respect back to the room. I believe the world looks upon us to not only fashion the cork, but to firmly place it inside his instrument!

We do not need a bellicose leader within this new millennium. Our country is 2 - 0 in great wars that beat back ego centric leaders that sent millions to their deaths. Wake up America! Don’t praise a bully, or give him thanks. Put Donald Trump back in his box where he belongs; just where Joseph McCarthy, and yes, his protégé’, Eddie Haskell landed!
