Biden deserves a chance to build on Obama’s success

Run, Joe, run.

The New York Times just wrote “Joe Biden Said to Be Taking New Look at Presidential Run”.

Thank goodness! We’d finally have a serious candidate for president! Hillary Clinton has a superb resume and her candidancy would be historic. But she huge problems. Most of them, like Benghazi, are just right-wing hysteria. But others, like her home-server, reveal self-deluded arrogance.

Bernie is a very attractive candidate. His populist message about fairness and income equality has drawn huge crowds. But Bernie, the self-described Socialist is easily rattled.

President Obama has had a transformative presidency. He’s the best president in my lifetime, and I remember JFK. If the next president is a Republican, he’d try to undo every Obama success and also try to pack the Supreme Court with ever more radical conservatives. That must not be!

Joe, as the grown-up in the room, could out-shine both Hillary and Bernie. Then take on and best any of the Republican candidates. President Joe Biden could cement and continue Obama’s wins. The memorial service for his son, Beau Biden was intensely moving. Every speaker told of Beau’s wisdom and kindness. Of how much he loved his family, his country and his state. Of his selflessness. Because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Beau’s best qualities reflect well on his father.

Before he died, Beau reportedly asked his father to run. As usual, Beau was right. Run, Joe. Please run.
