Climate change real emergency

Kudos for the recent editorial, “Pacific NW not immune to climate change.” All other crises in this beleaguered world pale in comparison to the emergency of human-caused climate change. The science is clear: Humanity is in very deep trouble, in danger of foolishly triggering what will very soon be an irreversible and catastrophic future for us and our descendants. We simply cannot afford to burn all the fossil fuel that we are capable of extracting from beneath the surface of this beautiful Earth.

We inhabit a world out of balance, with huge environmental and social justice issues. Governments and business have been too slow, so far, to act. The people must act. If you haven’t signed a petition to put Carbon Washington’s Initiative 732 on the ballot, be sure you do, and soon. I-732 addresses constructively the problems of carbon pollution and the regressive nature of our state’s tax structure.
