Every medium has its own form of editing
I for one am (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) getting sick and tired of reading the allegation that the Planned Parenthood videos have been edited — as if to imply that what the videos show is not really accurate.
Did the interviewers put the words said by the Planned Parenthood representatives in their mouths? The simple fact is, every program on TV is edited for time and content purposes.
Likewise, every article in this newspaper is edited for length and content — as is every advertisement. Would it be accurate, then, to say that nothing we read in the newspaper, or on television, is true because it has been edited ?
However, other than their oft-repeated denials, to my knowledge Planned Parenthood has never felt it necessary to prove these allegations to be untrue. Apparently, they don’t need to because the print and broadcast media has never felt it necessary to challenge Planned Parenthood’s lies.
