We should support police investigation of shooting
I read an opinion in the Sept. 21 paper written by a local attorney. It was about those poor kids being charged for attacking a store clerk and a police officer after society has mistreated them for years due to their race. Wake up and smell the roses.
What if they attacked someone you knew and cared for? What if they had killed yet another police officer? Would you still be saying they should be released?
I'm thinking that all lives matter. We are seeing crime rates raised and the amount of police officers shrink. I was taught that you treat people the way you want to be treated and to respect police officers. What happened to that?
I see kids running around, getting into trouble when they should be at home. I see reports of crimes going through the roof and many of the criminals released after doing little to no time.
If they do get released with no charges, how long do you think they'll manage to stay out of trouble? They'll probably just figure that they can get off because the system has abused them.
There is a point where we have to stop and say, “Enough.” I fully believe that we have hit it. It's time to back our police officers and respect their investigative procedures concerning the shooting of suspects by the police.
It may not be a perfect system but I believe that it works.
