U.S. bombings destroy our moral credibility

Regarding the Oct. 4 story by AP, “Doctors Without Borders: 19 dead in Afghan clinic attack”:

Once again, the U.S. commits acts of state-sponsored terrorism in the Middle East, and the Pentagon uses the soft language of propaganda to describe it: “There may have been collateral damage at a nearby medical facility.”

As so often before, our bombs murdered innocent civilians and children, as well as brave medical volunteers for Doctors Without Borders. Claiming that the attack was “unintentional” is no excuse, since our military has no right to be there in the first place. Unless, of course, you believe that might makes right, which is the amoral logic of empire, otherwise known as “American exceptionalism.”

As we slaughter the innocents in the Middle East, we destroy our own moral credibility. How can we condemn Russian bombs or the Assad regime in Syria?

To perpetuate our Mideast military occupations year after year, and expect a different result, is the very definition of insanity. During the coming elections, don’t listen to the warlords of the far right. Let us rather regain some sanity and elect leaders who get our military out of the Middle East: unilaterally, unequivocally, and 100 percent.
