Vote no on Olympia parks Proposition 1

I agree with Karen Rogers about the misuse of park acquisition funds by the current and previous Olympia city councils.

If you want a good example of wasting the taxes, go look at the Artesian Commons that they are continuing to try to turn into a silk purse. After spending $350,000-plus, it is obviously so poorly planned.

It should not have been made into a park in the first place (it’s a parking lot that downtown patrons could be using for parking). Now it is being used to entertain the homeless and drug dealers (and the city is allowing them to chalk their graffiti on the black wall they painted for them). The maintenance allotted per year is $50,000. That is about $1,000 a week.

At the same time the council turned down accepting Sylvester Park as a gift from the state if they would only take on the maintenance. I don’t get it. Vote no.
