Carson right; celebrate our spiritual heritage

In an interview, Ben Carson was asked, “Should a Muslim govern this country?” Mr. Carson replied, “No.” As a result of his statement, we now have Muslims in America calling for Mr. Carson to step down from the presidential race.

Our history agrees with Ben Carson; and he is entitled to his opinion.

America is a Christian nation. Our earliest leaders taught us, the moment our nation would walk away from God would be the moment our nation would die. I believe that it is our duty to make sure the leaders we vote into office uphold our spiritual heritage.

“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers,” said John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States.

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world with out God and the Bible,” said George Washington, first president of the United States.

If we, Americans, choose to turn our backs on our spiritual heritage, we will be the first generation to do so.

“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever,” said Thomas Jefferson, third president of United States.

“American was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness, which are derived from the revelation of Holy Scriptures,” said Woodrow Wilson, 28th president of the United States.
