Boeing owes us something for tax breaks

The State of Washington provided the Boeing company numerous tax breaks that were paid for by citizens to keep Boeing in this state. Since those tax breaks were given to Boeing, over the years it has taken away its defined benefit plan from its workers. Boeing has also established a manufacturing plant in South Carolina to take advantage of its right to work status with no unions while paying lower wages to employees.

It seems that this state has been receiving the short end of the stick while providing Boeing with all these tax payer subsidies, and now it appears Boeing is in talks with China to do the finishing work on its new 737 being build here. Why does it not alarm this state’s politicians when Boeing is looking to ship additional jobs overseas? This state’s lawmakers need to grow a back bone and let Boeing know that they expect something for all the tax breaks and require them to keep the new 737 finishing jobs here.

It looks as if Boeing is taking a peace meal approach to off shoring jobs from Washington a few at a time hoping no one catches on. It’s time to stand up as tax payers and require Boeing keep jobs in this state and stop looking to undercut wages of its workers.
