Two candidates are best for Olympia port commission

This year, there are two seats up for election on the Port of Olympia commission, and we are very fortunate to have two outstanding candidates running. They are both very pro-port, pro-Olympia, and bring tons of crucial experience to the job.

Joe Downing is running for the district 1 seat and brings years of experience in the financial oversight arena to the job. He has also been involved for many years on the port’s citizen advisory group. He knows what’s going on at the port and has great ideas for its future.

Jerry Farmer is running for the district 3 seat vacated by Sue Gunn. As co-owner and community affairs director for the 94.5 Roxy radio station, he has been in tune with the pulse of our community for years. Both candidates are very articulate, out-going, approachable and very active in our community. They have both been regular attendees at the port commission meetings and can be counted on to express their views during the public comment period.
