Grant aims to nurture inmates' family bonds

I read with interest the article about inmate-family bonds. Unless something is done about predatory pricing of telephone calls, classes will not make that much difference. Being able to talk to family members is a huge deal for an inmate, and having no contact makes things really hard.

Recently I received some calls from the Thurston and Lewis County jails. I had collect calls that were as high as $25 for about 10 minutes. A call from Thurston County to my house is also a local call.
