Longshoremen supportingJerry Farmer for port

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 47 has endorsed Jerry Farmer to be the next district 3 Port of Olympia commissioner.

He asked to attend a union meeting to explain his vision for the port. We found him to be honest and knowledgeable about port operations. He talked about the importance of creating living wage jobs and economic development and how the port was uniquely positioned to be a strong economic development engine for Thurston County.

Farmer wants to continue the ports environmental clean up of legacy pollution and diversify the marine terminal’s cargo base. He also asked us about our thoughts of how the port could strengthen it’s position in the future.

With respect to his opponent EJ Zita has never asked to attend a meeting and share her vision for the port. I can only guess the she doesn’t care about sharing her thoughts with the people most impacted or hearing our thoughts. Instead, she relies on the same old anti-growth, anti-economy supporters with outdated tired ideas. We can do better.

Please join the ILWU Local 47 members in voting for and electing Jerry Farmer to the port commission.
