Health law brings crunch time for small businesses

A recent article reported that small businesses are facing “a steep learning curve” as they prepare for the health insurance open enrollment season, which started Nov. 1 (“Crunch time at small businesses as healthcare law demands loom,” Oct. 25).

They should consider seeking the expert counsel of licensed, professional insurance agents, who have a decades-long track record of helping businesses secure coverage that meets their needs and budget.

One study found that nearly half of all agents spend much of their time investigating coverage options. Nearly three-quarters devote a significant chunk of time to explaining coverage to clients.

Agents have are also proven to save consumers money. According to research from the University of Minnesota, premiums are 13 percent lower in counties with the greatest concentration of brokers.
