Bardin lost race but says campaign was worth it

I want to thank all the people who voted for me, endorsed me and contributed to my campaign and express my heartfelt appreciation for their trust and confidence.

I am so grateful for the amazing number of people who helped on my campaign and gave so generously of their time for so long, some at levels beyond anything I expected. People doorbelling, sign-waving, advising, writing letters, maintaining the database, website and Facebook page, and managing finances. Thank you.

This was my first run for elected office and I found it to be as much of a learning experience as earning my doctorate. It was a real opportunity to better know our city, to connect with so many people and to advance my understanding of genuinely important issues. Standing on doorsteps and hearing first-hand about neighborhood and citywide concerns was inspiring and enjoyable (even in the rain).

Some of you have urged me to not drift out of the political arena, but to stay engaged, if nothing else to avoid wasting what can only be learned on the campaign trail.

I’ve not decided what my next steps will be but I will be sure to stay involved in the Olympia I love.
