2015 a downer for professional sports

First the Mariners, then the Sounders, and now the Seahawks. This year started out with so much promise. It was to be the paramount year for professional sports in Washington state.

What a disappointing bust! I made it a point to adjust my calendar around watching Cruz smash the home run that put us in the World Series, Dempsey kicking the goal that finally culminated in a MSL Championship, and having a Super Bowl Party that celebrates Lynch crossing the goal line with the winning touchdown as time expires on the clock. Oh, what could and should have been.

I am tired of the phrases that “this is a rebuilding year”, “we didn’t have our best team on the field” or “we just have to get better”. How many of our current major league baseball teams have never been in a World Series? How many professional soccer teams did not send players to the World Games? By the way, I am not an avid soccer fan, but it makes no sense to have to send your top players away in the middle of the season.

At last, the Seahawks were to be the salvation for 2015. With one Super Bowl victory and one close loss, NOW was the time for the rematch. Where is “Rocky” when you need him?

Maybe it is not too late for a comeback. But it sure feels that 2015 is a major downer. There is always next year-UGH!
