Where is veteran help?
About this time of year we begin to think more of the less fortunate and those in need. Since I am compassionate towards those in need I want what I give to go to help the people that an organization says it will assist.
It seems like everywhere you turn someone is collecting money for veterans and saying they are helping vets. I made the acquaintance recently of a wounded warrior who was diagnosed with PTSD and has knee and back injuries. Because of balance issues he can’t ride a conventional bicycle for exercise. I had him ride my recumbent trike and he was able to do it without pain and fear of falling.
The VA has purchased other vets recumbent trikes so they can get exercise, feel better and improve their outlook on life, but they refused my friend. So I asked him where were these other veteran groups willing to help a vet? He said he has never been contacted or received help from any organization other than the VA and doesn’t know of any other group who will help.
We say we don’t want to let down those who have served their country, but it is clear no one is helping these warriors in their time of need. I am personally not planning on giving to any more veterans groups since they aren’t connecting with those in need.
