After Paris, Muslims in US feel like targets
I have a hard time relating to Muslims in the United States who “feel like targets”.
I suspect I’m not alone. For the last 14 years, at least, I’ve been feeling like a target whenever I leave my house. Just since 9/11, how many thousands have been murdered by, dare I say it...? Muslims... worldwide?
I might feel just a little bit encouraged if the American Muslim community, instead of mouthing platitudes, actually stood up and joined the fight against their “radical” brethren. Turning in those among them who murder, rape, disfigure, and terrorize innocents might convince the rest of us that the American Muslim community really is on the side of peace and justice and, if not quite ready to assimilate, is at least willing to abide by the values we have lived with since our founding.
