Solve problems at home first
We just had 4,000 people in our community ask for assistance so they could enjoy a descent Thanksgiving meal.
I'm guessing our community isn't unique to this fact. I wonder if maybe it isn't time to seriously consider solving some of the major problems in our society before bringing in tens of thousands more to add to the problem.
Just think what this country would be like if we eliminated the homeless population, created family wage jobs, eliminated gangs and drugs, supported our military veterans and eliminated racism. We seem more interested in helping everyone but those in our own backyard.
I'm certainly not opposed to helping the refugees, but I think the best way to do that is through sponsorship. Our governor ,should be able to host at least a half dozen in his mansion, our multi-millionaire senators certainly could sponsor at least a couple dozen, our president should feel right at home with several in the White House and I'm sure would be plenty of space in the Vatican for several.
I would think there would be many more who would step up and do their share. Probably isn't going to happen but it's a thought. Have a Very Merry Christmas.
