Plan for future tide levels

Mayor Buxbaum is off to Paris to compare notes on climate change with world leaders.

The mayor will hear that many people will be affected by rising sea levels in coastal areas. Olympia residents are 100 miles from the coast, but we have a daily tide that affects our downtown area.

The mayor should not be pushing for futile building pursuits near the high tide areas along the isthmus, or near the Children's Museum. It is a waste of tax money to build in areas that will need to be diked in 20 years.

The isthmus area and Parcels 2 and 3 at the Port of Olympia need to be left as park areas and save the taxpayers from future losses.
