Letters to the Editor

We must not fail Syrian refugees

This letter concerns the Syrian refugee situation. We should and must welcome these individuals into our country and into our lives.

I am an 88-year-old woman who has lived and learned from the history of each of those years. We must come to realize that in this world, today’s world, we cannot be safe from ISIS terrorism. We must learn to live with this fact. Keeping those war ravaged refugees from our shores cannot change that fact. Nothing can.

Do not let us lose the goodness, the kindness, the caring for our fellow humans, that the United States has always stood for. We have failed in the past to rescue victims of hateful wars. This time we have a clear mandate to help 10,000 frightened and forlorn human beings find a haven in our land. Let us not fail these 10,000 this time
