Refugees should conform, speak English
My husband is a third-generation, 100 percent Italian and cannot speak Italian - because when his grandparents came to America ( through Ellis Island legally and with no government aid) they embraced their new home and made every attempt to become “Americanized.” When he was a child his grandfather told all the family members to “speak English, we are no longer in Italy.”
I believe that we have always offered a safe haven for refugees – but if they do not wish to conform to our language and customs – religion and American flag – then they do not belong here!
Why are we giving financial aid to refugees when we already have millions of citizens who do no have jobs or homes??
If our silent majority does not speak up and stand up for what they believe, eventually we will be the refugees to some foreign country.
Thanks to Bob Stone for his letter which should inspire others to speak up as it did me.
