Most gun owners are responsible

In response to Dick Seed's Dec. 17 letter about requiring insurance for gun owners – unfortunately, I believe this would not work at all. I believe that most legal owners of guns are responsible people.

The media continues to report hour after hour the events of a shooting and I believe that most folks do not sit and watch for hours on end. I watch only a few minutes and then turn off the TV or change channels that do not sensationalize.

The continued reporting surely must affect those who are mentally ill or who are looking for excitement and attention. We cannot blame the government for sick people's actions.
