Puget Sound Energy report not accurate

Puget Sound Energy has established a new policy on intimidating its customers through the use of a so called home energy report.

This monthly report compares your energy use with those of your “efficient neighbors” in hopes that you will feel embarrassed and somehow reduce your energy consumption. In my copy it says that I am “using 77 percent more energy than my neighbors.”

I took exception to this unjustified, erroneous, off the wall statement and asked them to provide me with the information that was used to reach this conclusion. For example, they have no idea how many people live in any one home, how much laundry or cooking is done, if anyone ill is being cared for, if pets are involved, or how much heat, air conditioning or food storage is required for any residence. They do not even have an accurate estimate of my home square feet. So far I have not received even a courteous reply to my letters.

If you are receiving these insulting energy reminders and wish to complain, write the Washington Public Utilities and Transportation Commission at utc.wa.gov or write them at P.O. Box 47250, Olympia, WA 98504.
