Time to follow Google and do more with solar
Emery P. Dalesio’s Jan. 3 article, “Google helps analyze if rooftop solar panels are good deal,” shows that Google is getting on the bandwagon for the emerging solar industry. The solar industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. right now, and it’s creating jobs 20 times faster than the rest of the economy.
Solar power is close to becoming a success story here in Washington too. The barriers to solar are falling faster than ever with more and more cities, states and companies adopting innovative pro-solar policies that have made solar power cheaper and easier to install.
However Washington ranks 25th in the nation for solar capacity per capita. As legislators come together this session, I urge them to make solar energy a priority in our state and extend current incentives that make it possible for families, communities and businesses to go solar. Together, we can bring more solar power to our homes, our communities, our churches and our schools, our workplaces and our lives and leave a cleaner, and healthier world for kids growing up today and in future generations.
