Feeling the Bern in Olympia

I was struck by an observation from my wife as we had breakfast here in Olympia and were discussing the Democratic presidential debate the previous evening.

Marrial observed that she hoped Bernie won the nomination and thought he could and would. She said that if Hillary were the Democratic nominee, she would not vote for the Green Party candidate – she would be writing Bernie’s name in.

She indicated that anyone like Hillary – who so freely told lies about her opponent that she clearly knew were lies – could not be trusted to be president and that Hillary was, for all intents and purposes, a Republican.

For Marrial, Hillary is not an option; it is Bernie or bust.

To put this in context, Marrial is 64, supported Clinton in 2008 at the precinct caucuses, has three college degrees, been a teacher, a counselor, a social worker, and a small business owner, and was a vice chair of the local Democratic Party in the 1990s. Think about that for a moment and let it sink in.

Bernie Sanders for president.
