Vote for the person, not for the party
Mr. Phil Ledford's letter to the editor ("Big money corrupts political system") prompted me to write this. There have been several letters from both Democrats and Republican pointing fingers and crying how bad the other party is. As I talk to most people they have no concept of how politics really work. All they know or believe is what they have been told or what the media spews out. I would really like to know how many of these individuals have spent any time at our Capitol during session watching floor debate and committee discussions.
While I was working at the Capitol, I had a staff member tell me that they had observed that the entire function of the Democratic Party was to screw with the Republicans, and the same was true of the Republicans when they were in the majority. Another individual stated, "I have worked here for 15 years and either party would vote for Hitler if he were their candidate.
It is time everyone learns what is going on at the Capitol by actually becoming involved. I think if you do your own research you may actually vote for a person, not a party!
