Olympia oncewas a great town

I was born and raised in Olympia and remember my wonderful memories of going downtown with my grandmother and also going to the movies and the YMCA with my friends. So very sorry to see these memories destroyed!

I decided to go downtown the other day (against my better judgment) with a friend. As we were walking along a man with tattoos covering his face and neck, arms etc. ran right between us.

If I had not had my purse wrapped around me and had a death grip it would have been gone. He then ran to the corner where his friend on a bike was waiting. And then comes your article on a temporary fix for the potty problem!!

We have so many talented artist and cute shops that are being ignored because the Olympia City Council can't protect the citizens of our town. We have gone to some wonderful places out of state that protect the businesses and citizens because they won't stand for this. No loitering signs, no soliciting signs etc.

But no, the Olympia council spends taxpayers' money to make alleys and the artesian well a better place for transients to shoot up and make a potty stop. Well done, council.

I'll drive to Portland before I shop downtown again.
