Rep. Hunt erred with end run on charter

Rep. Sam Hunt apparently doesn’t understand what “no” means. His three Thurston County commissioner friends didn’t understand “no” either, when after citizens had voted against the jail, the commissioners built it anyway. As we all know, the jail sat empty for years costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It appears that Rep. Hunt is not aware of the fact that the citizens of Thurston County haven’t ever supported a change in county government and the addition of two more commissioners. At a time when our county cannot find sufficient funds to add much needed sheriff’s deputies, properly staff a jail or provide adequate road maintenance/improvements why would we want to add two more commissioners?

I look forward to the next time Hunt runs for office where I can remind the voters he doesn’t care what we want. His three county commissioner friends didn’t listen and at the end of this year none of them will be in office!
