Reader offers to do DOC probe next time for less
The Senate Republicans and the Governor's Office have spent upwards of $200,000 of taxpayer money to study the reason why there was no software fix for over a decade by the Department of Corrections in calculating early release dates for inmates. The reason according to the reports for this tragic failure was "incompetence." Well, duh! I could have told them that obvious fact for free.
Clearly, the real reasons for spending those dollars are to embarrass the governor as an issue to use during his reelection campaign and, in the governor's case, to cover his backside.
Meanwhile, dollars were wasted in this posturing exercise to arrive at an obvious conclusion. Call me next time. No charge.
