Emergency responders deserve our thanks
A strong wind storm took down two large cottonwood trees that fell across Carpenter Road and into the Thurston County Fairgrounds early Sunday, March 6. Thankfully, no one was hurt when they fell.
The first responders were here within minutes directing traffic and keeping everyone safe. The power crews worked diligently all day restoring power and even came back to make sure everyone had lights after the power came back on.
A special thanks to the Thurston County road crew for removing the trees from the road and then for the excellent job of cleanup on Monday. The crew had all the right equipment and were so professional in quickly removing the large root balls and other debris. The restoration of the bank along our property was especially well done and I want to thank the crew for being so thorough and sensitive.
When we hear people claiming that public servants are lazy and not responsive, it is very gratifying to witness just the opposite during this emergency situation. We can be very proud of our city and county law enforcement, fire department, county and power company workers who serve us so efficiently on a daily basis.
