Governor should sign charter schools bill

I want to thank the voters in Washington state for passing the public charter school initiative, approving a law for public charter schools statewide. I want to thank the legislators in both houses and on both sides of the aisle who passed a long-term solution for public charter schools this year.

I urge Gov. Jay Inslee to respect the will of his constituency and the legislature's vote and sign Senate Bill 6194.

Choices in public education are extremely important as all children do not learn or respond to the same teaching methods. Public charter schools are committed to meeting the individual needs of students and their families and will help close the achievement gap.
