Reader is feeling different kind of Bern

I received an advertisement from the Bernie for President campaign. It said, “As President, Bernie Sanders will make Wall Street banks pay their fair share of taxes, will raise the minimum wage, will insure equal pay for equal work, and insure public colleges and universities are tuition free.” I assume these things would each be a separate bill that would have to get a simple majority from the Senate and the House.

I'm confused by this because, during Mr. Sanders' 16 years in the House and nine years in the Senate, he introduced 353 bills. As chief sponsor, three bills were signed into law: two renaming a U.S. Post Office in the state of Vermont, and one that increased the annual cost of living benefits for veterans.

His success rate on getting bills approved is therefore less than 1 percent.

Bernie reminds me of a co-worker that invited me over for a promised dinner of steak and lobster, but when I got there, it was a bologna sandwich.

Bernie, if I was going to vote for empty promises, I'd vote for Donald Trump.
