Presidential primary vote is waste of taxes

I caucused in 2008 and planned to caucus again on Saturday for the Democrats. I was surprised to learn in 2008 that the primary occurring about two months after the caucuses had, and still has absolutely nothing to do with choosing the Washington state Democratic presidential nominee.

I assumed that the process would be changed as many complained about it. To my chagrin, when I recently looked up my caucus location, I learned that again, there would be a totally unnecessary primary in May.

I find it outrageous that the process has remained the same. I don’t know how much money is involved and where that money comes from, but whatever it costs and however many hours are involved, it is a huge waste of scarce resources. I assume it is the state Democratic Party that decides on the process.

I ask that whomever makes this decision changes it for the future so that the resources can be used for productive and useful purposes. If it isn’t changed then someone involved in the decision making explain to the citizens of Washington what benefits accrue from this seemingly wasteful system.
