DOC review shows failure at high level

I note that investigators in the state Department of Corrections' early release issue have reviewed 70,000 pages of documents. Let's assume, just for fun, that each of those documents are emails that took 30 seconds to type and send. That's 583 hours or 72.9 eight hour work days.

Could that time have been better spent fixing the problem in the first place?

I see this as failure at some of the higher levels of administration where they are adverse to making decisions because there is usually no consequence for not making decisions and risk in making decisions.

Administrators everywhere, public and private sector, guess what you are being paid to do? I salute mid-managers and line workers who, despite shortcomings in administration such as in this case, are actually able to do a decent job.

If there is a silver lining in this, it is that it is an opportunity to learn and create better days ahead.

Sincere best wishes to all DOC employees. You will get through this and be better for it.
